Donations for Filling the gap

I have, in the past had to use the state programs to fill the gaps in our life when money was a problem. This is what they are for, what we pay taxes for and I think for the most part they are not abused.

However, there are a few things that fall in the gap, things that we really do need for day to day living.

You can feed your children on WIC and food stamps, but you cannot purchase soap to wash the little bodies or the clothes you put on them. You cannot get the personal hygeine products that you need for healthy teeth, gums and skin.

I am trying to launch a stop gap measure to put together packages for these needful households, thru the wic office and local church or town soup kitchens.

An example of a monthy package for a house hold of four would include;

Shampoo, bath, laundry and dish soap. Diapers if needed, Lady things (maxi pads ect) if needed, toilet paper, trash bags, household cleaners, tooth brush, toothpaste, dental floss and mouth wash. Band aids, lotions and powders, diaper rash cream if needed and in all this, a little self respect might come along.

I dont know of any town that will allow the trash to be set out to the curb in just a trash can with no bag in there.

We have been doing ok with our limited means, but I see a bigger need than we can fill on our own. I truly beleive that with some support, we will be able to show some larger investors that this is something people want to help with.
