Our Little Rescue: Foxy's Unexpected Surgery

On December 21st my fiance and I adopted our second pomeranian after we drove eight hours round trip to rescue her from a shelter. We were told she was in perfect health from the lady we adopted her from, however, that was hardly the case. After her first vet visit, we were in absolute shock to find out that our little Foxy suffers from medial luxating patellas (severe kneecap damage) in both of her hind legs and will continue to be in permanent pain until she is operated on. She is a grade 4. Grade 4 is when the patella is not only out of place all the time but cannot even be manipulated back into place by hand. She has extreme difficulty extending her knees and walks with her knees bent virtually all the time. Grade 4 is the worst possible condition of medial luxation of the patellas. My fiance and I are both teachers-to-be and with our school loans and everything else we cannot afford to give Foxy the opportunity that she deserves; to walk, run, and live pain-free.
