http://www.pledgie.com/campaigns/506 Carpool NZ is one of the original (if not the original) carpooling website in New Zealand. Version one was built in an afternoon after I realised I had been travelling the 150-or-so kilometres regularly between Takaka and Nelson and I often had an empty seat or two. As summer came to an end, there were less and less hitchhikers to pick up and I realised it would make sense to be able to pre-arrange rides with people who were going over the Hill or who had rides available. The website has been online for around three years now I think and it has registered a lot of traffic and has had good use. How many people have actually made connections I do not know. There are several things I would like to see done differently and I would love to rebuild version two of the system but I can't do it without support. en-us
