I have been accepted into a post-graduate Internship with the Internation Mission Board. Not only will I have the chance to implement my Print Media BA degree, but I will also have the chance to witness to thousands of people within a street ministry group that will also be involved.

[Japan is rife with materialism, hopelessness, and depression. Only 0.7% of people in Japan are Christian and many view Christianity as an imperialistic sect intent on destroying Japan’s cultural richness. IMB Tokyo Team Volunteer Coordinator, Buddy Brents, reports “over 30,000 suicides per year, almost 100 per day. The youth & young adults of Tokyo, Japan live in one of the world's most modern cities, but at the same time, in loneliness, emptiness, and in spiritual darkness because they have never had a friend tell them of the love of Jesus.” Any support or prayers will benefit 130 million people of Japan, 33 million in Tokyo alone.]

I leave for Japan May 20 and return August 7. There are a lot of things that I lack and I need your help in several areas.

@Prayer. I need your prayer support. About funds, about strengthening my heart, lifting me up and encouraging me when people close their doors to me when I knock for help. It's difficult to ask for support, especially for a people group they've never considered to need Jesus.

@Resources. Do you know anyone who has a heart for Japan, who would offer help for someone to go and share the Gospel to one of the most advanced countries, the richest people, and the most depressed and hopeless nation in the world?

@Computers. I've had a desktop for 6 years now, but I recently learned I will need a portable computer to take in order to fulfill the duties of my Internship. They have computers and software only for the few or one person who currently does the media work for that section. What I've been told would be sufficient is something like a Mac iBook, a Mac mini (a very compact desktop computer), or some other laptop capable of some video editing but predominantly print work.

@Funds. The only way I have been able to come to school is through scholastic scholarships. I have no car to go to any part-time job. My work-loads for graduating on time (before scholarships run out) are 17-19 hours, leaving little to no time for work-study. I have no cell phone. My mother is disabled and my step-father hasn't had a raise in over 10 years, so money is very tight.

@People. Do you know any companies or organizations that would like to offer a small, tax-deductable amount to help?

How did all of this happen?
I have loved Japan for so many years now. When I was saved, I prayed for God to help the missionaries currently in Japan. Each day since, I pray for the people of Japan to come to know Christ.

I had been considering Journeyman for a long time, so I emailed the volunteer coordinator of the Tokyo team, Buddy Brents, about how to get into that program. When he found out I was graduating with a Print degree, he offered me to apply for the Summer internship, job# 88110 on thetask.org. This internship would help me both career-wise, to also begin adjusting to the culture there, and also begin the application process for Journeyman quicker.

I did and was accepted for the internship in less than a few days! God opened this door to me, to bring me into His service. Now, I have to seek support in a very small amount of time, allowing God more ways to exercise His glory.

[DEADLINE ALERT: Since I'm not going as a group, but an individual, I need to buy my airfare ticket ($1200) in the next two weeks, especially by March 31st. $620 is required to be sent by May 1st to cover housing. $1780 is due by May 19 to cover food and travel expenses within Japan.

If you would like to send funds electronically, you can send them through Paypal to the email hollystahl1@hotmail.com (I am verified. :D) If you feel compelled to mail a check or would like a copy of my support letter for your church, contact me by the same email for Paypal and I will mail you that information.

Additional information about my trip and a place to ask questions is on Facebook's "official" group, here.
