The Libre Graphics Meeting fundraising campaign is over! In total, we raised $11,368, making our community a Gold sponsor of the conference, for more money than Intel and Google combined! Thanks to you, and the other 275 donors to the campaign, we have assured the financial health of the conference this year. Over the course of the campaign, we had over 15,000 visits to the campaign page, over 750 sites carried our campaign badge on them, for a total of over 850,000 page views - an amazing number for a campaign of this type! Thank you again for your kind and generous donations. Update: We have received a further $730 in late donations, bringing the campaign funds raised to $12,098 in total! Thank you very much to our community, and to the Fedora project in particular for tipping us over the line.

This sounds like a really great conference, and as a user of several of these products I am thrilled to see an event dedicated to bringing users and devs together to make them even better. I'd be amazing if the entire 20k could be raised in just 15 days. I really hope the Pledgie community rallies around this cause. P.S. Go Inkscape! (my personal fav)

Yes, this is a great quick campaign where anyone, including businesses and other organizations can send sponsorship so we can make sure this great even happens!

The Libre Graphics Meeting has established itself as one of the key annual conferences for open source software developers. As far as I'm aware, it's the only one focussed particularly on the graphic and design area. Crucial advances have come out of these gatherings - so I'm happy to support the creation of a travel fund for developers of Libre Graphics. I just discovered GIMP last week, and I am so excited about it! I've kept Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Essentials on my computer for years. This little gem, however goes far beyond Photoshop in so many ways. Aside from it loading more quickly and hogging less resources, I love how customizable it is. I wish I'd known about this years ago! And the best part, is that it's created by volunteers who think like me, and who want to make a difference. Thanks guys and girls - and have fun in Wroclav. I was there two years ago, and it is a beautiful city. Don't miss the "modern" fountains in the main square, and be sure to drop by the Tourist Information Office in the square - free internet access, incredibly friendly people, and lots of info. Ask them about the gnomes, and how to find them. There are tiny bronze gnomes scattered about the downtown area; some are easy to spot - others a bit more difficult. Over 500K views! Man, this campaign has hit it hard! If we can just get the goal of 20K, that would be beyond swell! Time to talk to some big donors and companies :) You guys rule and are helping us reach this so well...this is a truly community supported conference!

Nice. I didn't find a place to put my name, but my nick will do. I use Gimp, Inkscape, Scribus and Blender a whole lot. I need a video editor though, and I'm aiming for Lumiera to be it in a couple of years.

I'm going to update teh campaign goal, reducing the goal from $20,000 (which is now clearly unattainable) to the realistic bit ambitious $12,000 - let's see if we can't make 100% in the next 36 hours. Dave.

The graphic field is highly complex. If someone is still wondering about the importance of meetings such as the Libre Graphics Meeting in the development of Open Source Applications, think of this: Those apps cover an incredibly complex array of tasks: pixels and vectors manipulations of all kinds, transparency and blends, colors, 3D, fonts and font management, file formats, export/output, resolution, color space, color management, state-of-the-art typography, human language diversity and complexity, GUI issues and among-apps interactions, etc. They have to work well and they have to work well together. People are generally using many of them, not just one of them! :) Open, tight and face-to-face discussions among highly knowledgeable and highly skilled developers and users have an overwhelming "push forward" effect on ideas that would take far more time to arise — and could even not arise at all — through the day-to-day regular channels. LGM is hot. It’s a bleeding edge conference. It’s hard work and good fun. It is a necessity! I hope to be convincing enough so that in the last hours of the campaign we’ll be able to attain our goal or even go beyond it. Every bit added to the budget is helping those people get together for the benefit of all!
