http://www.pledgie.com/campaigns/984 Assalamu Alaikum, The Muslim Inter-Scholastic Tournament occurred on May 17th and 18th 2008 and alhamdullilah it was a great success. This event allowed Muslim youth to explore their talents and express their creativity in a variety of competitions. Whether it was in arts, writing/oratory, knowledge/Qur'an, group projects or in a bracket competition... there was definitely something for everyone. You can view some pictures of the event here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/a-z/sets/72157605168496478/ Because this was the first MIST in Toronto and I had no capital to begin with, I naturally went over the budget with all the food, trophy and logistical expenses. Although we were able to get back most of the money through the registration fees, there is still quite a bit of debt that needs to be payed off. I unfortunately do not have the means to pay it all off by myself. This is why I need the help of the community. The first $1,000 that will be raised will go directly back into MIST Toronto and alleviating those expenses. Any leftover donation money will be used for next year's competition (MIST Toronto 2009 inshAllah). The second $1,000 goes into travel expenses for the students to allow them to visit MIST Nationals and represent MIST Toronto down there. This is a great opportunity for Muslim youth to interact with the other top MIST performers across the continent and get motivated to come back next year. MIST Nationals is one of the largest Muslim youth events in the West. This year it is being held in Atlanta, Georgia on July 25-27th.
